Mercedes Harris


 Mercedes Harris has been serving others and participating in the arts for the past 28 years. Her commitment to share with others is exhibited in her sales, marketing and volunteer roles in Houston. Despite a full career as a sales professional at Microsoft, Mercedes always finds times to serve others.  

In 2015, Mercedes co-founded a cultural events calendar and blog (MerlexPicks) to increase the diversification of participants in the arts in Houston. Mercedes is a strong supporter of the arts and the community through civic organizations where she is a member such as City of Houston Social Media Ambassador, Rotary Club of Houston (Board Director and Chair of Burnett Bayland Committee), Walker’s Legacy (Past City Co-Chair), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Houston City Breakfast Club (Community Outreach & Scholarship Committee Member),  Blacks at Microsoft Houston (Community Outreach Chair) and Women Empowering Nations.

In addition to Mercedes’ commitment to serving others, she is also the mother of a wonderful son who often joins her in projects throughout Houston. Mercedes holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from Spelman College and Georgia Tech, respectively. She also has an MBA from Tepper School of Business with concentrations in Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, and Marketing.
